About Me

Welcome

My name is Amy, I am a birth photographer, covering Cambridgeshire and London areas. I am passionate about preserving the genuine essence of family bonds and the tender moments that often go unnoticed. Through my lens, I strive to encapsulate the unique narratives and the authentic connections that take place in birth between mother and baby, family and midwifes and doctors. I believe it's not just about capturing images; it's about crafting visual stories that will be cherished for generations to come.

* I also offer newborn and family shoots, as well as commercial shoots and portrait work.

My Journey

I embarked on my photography journey studying Fashion Photography at London College of Fashion, followed by a Master's in Photojournalism. After several years as a photojournalist specialising in travel, portraiture, and reportage, I transitioned into broadcast journalism.

However following the birth of my own son, I took a decade-long hiatus from photography, during which I developed a keen interest in women's wellbeing, Innerdance, and movement as medicine, inspired by my own health challenges.

Now, I have rediscovered my passion for photography, within birth photography. I love it! This is a true calling for me, my aim is to capture the true beauty of birth—the aspects often overlooked by society. While we celebrate pregnancy and newborns, the birthing process itself is frequently hidden, yet it is a moment when a woman embraces her true power. My mission is to share this beautiful experience with mothers and families, allowing them to cherish these precious moments for a lifetime.

In the lead up to my birth, I felt in very safe hands as she went through the process and then, on the day, it was like having a friend with a camera in the room. I never felt, at any stage, the experience was anything other than a delight and I'd absolutely have her in my labour room again. My well-being - and the well-being of my little family, including my soon-to-be-born baby - was always her top priority and, at the moment I actually delivered my son, she melted into the background and captured images I never imagined I'd see.

The photos are just stunning. Beautiful. Life-changing. In part, I think, because she made my partner and I feel so at ease. A real skill. I can't wait to look back over these photos in years to come and remind myself of what I am capable of. I will treasure them forever and I feel so fortunate to have had this experience. I cannot recommend Amy highly enough."
